SUMMARY:Annual Superhero Festival
DESCRIPTION:We believe that everyone\, despite their background and challenges\, deserves equal access to community resources and to live life to their fullest potential. It was Mekong’s second time attending the San Andreas Regional Center’s Annual Superhero 5k walk/run and Festival to support individuals with differing abilities. The event was located at San Jose History Park\, with over 60 service providers and community-based organizations that came together to share information about services offered in the community. The wellness team had a great time dressing up in superhero costumes to fit in with the theme and show support. The team enjoyed all the music and dance performances by the College of Adaptive Arts\, Latizmo Hip Hop\, and the New Hope Band Music Camp Band\, who all provide equitable and positive experiences to individuals with disabilities who historically have not had access to higher education and extracurricular activities such as in dance and music. \nEvent Photos

SUMMARY:Minority Mental Health Awareness
DESCRIPTION:Mekong Community Center attended the 3rd Annual Minority Mental Wellness Resource Fair to assist the Hellyer Neighborhood Association and Santa Clara County of Behavioral Health in bringing mental health awareness to the community and helping to eliminate the stigma. The event was held at Hellyer Park where many health and other non-profit organizations came together to provide resources to the community. The event held a free screening area\, giveaways\, games and activities\, and entertainment celebrating diversity\, culture\, and more. The wellness team enjoyed meeting individuals and families who stopped by Mekong’s booth to share their stories\, concerns and needs with us. \nEvent Photos\n\n
